Our Art of Being a Black Man curriculum provides community-informed resources and tools for dismantling anti-Black racism for youth and adults. It is through efforts like these that we exemplify Akoben, or a call to action, to move us closer to liberation.
Black Education Vision
We hold a vision for all Black people to have culturally affirming, holistic educational journeys, with the experiences, supports,and personalized pathways needed to live well and contribute their ancestral gifts to our communities. This resource explores the six focus areas.
Black Youth Development Book
The BYD Book is a comprehensive directory launched in 2023 highlighting 60+ Black-led organizations, offering over 200 Black-led educational programs in Oakland. Offering free or low-cost participation, and even paid work experiences, these programs foster culturally affirming development and create pathways to success.
Land-Based Education Rationale
What does it mean for land-based people who were stolen from their ancestral land to (re)connect with Grand Mother Earth on stolen land? This resource explores the rationale for land-based education from mental and physical wellness to spiritual connection.
